Rainy Day

We had almost a week of lovely 70 degrees days, now the rain has returned.

The trees have begun to bear their soft blossoms.

The flower I asked my mom to plant in 2005 is starting to bloom.

Today, the house is uncharacteristically quiet. All I can hear is the laundry tumbling in the drier.

I think it's the perfect time for a nap.

Hand Print

Yesterday, I biked over to my uncle's house to help my little cousin paint her room.

It took the whole day, but we were messing around a little bit and slapping paint on each other. I spent the whole day with a white hand print on my boob. I met my aunt and uncle, and the whole of my family with the offending marked breast. I also biked 2 miles down a busy public street with it.

But no one said a word.

If I had known I could get away with such an obviously awkward situation by not pointing it out, I would totally do it more often.

Hell yes.

Izit Rant

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born a Hindu... but he married a Muslim woman and went on to have two kids. His kids did not inherit his guruship because they weren't spiritually inspired enough.

Isn't that amazing? He crossed all boundaries that constricted and oppressed society. He shunned that which he was born into, even though it was a respected caste. He crossed religious lines even though it was frowned upon. He rejected his own sons even though everything was inherited from parents.

He turned the world upside down.

But he did it with reason! He shot down traditions that were pointless. He declared us the makers of our own lives.

That is why he is the founder of Sikhism and we should follow in his footsteps. We are bound by no rules but those that make us good, better human beings.

Cat Face

What's amusing me for the moment:

There's a whole series! It's some cat with a giant floating head. AND he speaks with a french accent. Haha.

Epiphany

My whole adult life I have felt like no one understands what I've been through... but yesterday I found out one of those family secrets I wish I had never known.

I don't know who else knows.

Now I realize it's me that doesn't understand.

Disappointment

Yesterday, I picked up my first homework from Genetics.

I can deal with failure better than I can deal with near perfection.

I missed 2 points from a full score.

I am not happy.

Surprise

Yesterday, Biji told me that my older cousin got a 'rishta' in India and is getting married.

All I could think was if she'd be a little less uptight after she got laid.

Bwahaha.

Things shall never be the same.

But then she went and posted everything on Facebook.

So... maybe not.

The Underdog

The mutt is getting smarter. She figured out what I mean when I waggle my finger it means 'come here.'

She's learning.

One day...

One dog to rule us all.

God

Movies like American History X and Fight Club cement Edward Norton's status as a god in my eyes.

Shallow

Events in my life do not feel validated unless there is a facebook album to commemorate the experience.
