Life's Consequences

Everyone in life suffers.

It's what you do after you've been through the trenches that matters.

Some people believe that because they've been hurt once, everything and everyone continues to hurt them. They become victims of life's consequences. They become paralyzed in some vicious cycle of fearful pain and anger, taking out their frustration on others and themselves.

Everyone wants to be nice to them because of their, "I've been hurt, pity me," attitude. Patience and time are definitely required to heal. But what do you do when someone gets stuck and doesn't perceive that magic epiphany? Years later?

I don't know. Maybe it's more profound suffering, or maybe a rallying go-get-em speech. I honestly have no idea.

Although, I do know what that magic epiphany is: accountability. It's realizing that no matter what has happened to you, no matter who did it, it is your life. And only you are responsible for living it. You stand up on your own two feet and you decide what to do with it. However unfortunate the scenario, you are the one who has to clean up the mess someone else made of your life. You have to realize that what happened may not have been your fault but now you are responsible for your own actions. Then instead of being the victim become the amazing liver of it.

So, commit to your life and live it.

Grace

I don't want anything fancy.

I appreciate the grace in simplicity and honesty.

Be bold. Be true.

Smile

When I'm not smiling, people automatically assume I must be unhappy. I really don't know why.

Is it because my smile is so large? Is my face easier to read than I think it is?
I'm beginning to believe what people are telling me about how I feel.

It's hard being objective when you live in a bubble.

Words of Wisdom

Do not do something during the day that would keep you up at night.

Do not do anything during the night that would stop you from holding your head high during the day.

It's about morals and temptation. It sounds a whole lot better in Punjabi.

Phone Calls

Do you ever feel like phone calls have become irrelevant?

It seems like people would rather text than talk with you. I miss the sound of voices saying hello and asking, "How are you?"

Sometimes when you do manage to get someone on the phone their conversations seem so vapid and rushed, as if they're using their texting personas put to voice.

Perhaps it is my own fault, I always get straight to the point when I need something. This year I'm making it a point to get back to the niceties.

Skeptical

I shall remain politely bemused, as I realize these people rarely tell the truth.

Tolerance

Today tolerance isn't about acceptance. It's a state of politically correct neutrality which offends no one and defends no one. Fence-sitting pussies have taken the lead.

You can only discuss dissenting politics in hushed circles. God forbid any mention of religion is made anywhere. Seems like atheism is the only polite way to go. Forget discussing anything.

If you can publicly politicize into vulgarity, I think talking about religion is A-OK.
